It stands up to wear and tear from knives and is resistant to absorbing liquids, odors and bacteria. It is a smooth textured wood with uniform color and fine tight grain. The hand burned image is sealed with an acrylic varnish and the functional surface of the board is coated with a food grade mineral oil and beeswax combination to help prevent drying and cracking.
