Handcrafted Cutting and Charcuterie Boards - FAQ’s

At BURNINBORDZ, the artistry of our cutting and charcuterie boards begins with a meticulous selection of wood species. Each piece is carefully chosen for its unique grain and rich color, enhancing the visual appeal of the hand-burned pyrography designs. Furthermore, we prioritize wood with excellent bacteriostatic properties, ensuring that every board not only looks stunning but also remains hygienic for food preparation and serving. The shape of each board is thoughtfully considered, harmonizing with the intricate designs to create functional yet exquisite pieces that celebrate the natural beauty of wood and wildlife. Experience the elegance and craftsmanship of our boards, where nature and artistry converge seamlessly.

  • Wood Species: Acacia wood is known for its rich and varied color ranging from light yellow to dark red. It has distinctive grain patterns and an unusual property known as chatoyancy, which means it appears to change color and luster in different lighting conditions. Beech Wood is a light colored wood with a fine, straight grain. Walnut Wood is typically dark; but just as with any natural material, there can be a lot of variation in its color.

  • Dimensions: Cutting and Charcuterie boards are measured as width (measurement from side to side) by length (measured from top of handle to bottom of board). Thicknesses will vary based on type and style of board.

  • Shapes: Boards come in either round or rectangular shape. Wood wall art comes in oval or plank shapes.

  • Material: Boards are premium, sustainable hardwoods to include Beech, Acacia, and Walnut . These species of wood are considered naturally antibacterial, which means they can help prevent the growth of harmful bacteria on the surface of the cutting board when properly cleaned and maintained. Wood wall art is made of Basswood with a live edge bark surround.

  • Finish: Burned images are sealed with an acrylic varnish. The usable cutting board surface is treated with a food-safe mineral oil and beeswax combination.

  • Handcrafted: Each board is individually wood-burned, making it one-of-a-kind. Natural variations in wood color and wood grain are normal amongst the various species of wood.

  • Care: Easy to clean with mild soap and warm water (do not put in dishwasher); occasional oiling with a food-grade mineral oil is recommended to maintain the board’s natural beauty.
